Important before booking – Travel cancellation insurance

  1. OceanLife strongly recommends that you take out travel cancellation insurance before booking, just in case.
  2. If – as is very often the case – payment is made by credit card, participants should ensure that the card provider also offers insurance.
  3. In the event of cancellation due to illness, OceanLife will issue a cancellation invoice for submission to the insurance company.

General Conditions

  1. Booking on the website is legally binding for customers.
  2. Confirmation (by e-mail) is binding for OceanLife.
  3. The events correspond to the descriptions on the OceanLife website.
  4. Customers fill out the questionnaires and forms sent by OceanLife and return them to OceanLife by e-mail.
  5. The organizer reserves the right to make necessary changes to the events due to unfavorable weather conditions and/or other nautical reasons and cannot be held liable.
  6. The organizer will endeavor to find an adequate replacement.
  7. The skipper reserves the right to disembark crew members who do not follow instructions or endanger the safety of the event.
  8. In order to form travel groups, customers agree to their contact details being passed on within the travel group upon completion of the booking.

Cancellation conditions

  1. Up to 6 weeks before the start of the event, the cancellation fee is 50 % of the price confirmed by OceanLife.
  2. From 6 weeks before the start of the event, the cancellation fee is 100 % of the price confirmed by OceanLife.
  3. OceanLife therefore strongly recommends that you take out appropriate travel insurance.
  4. The booking can be transferred to another person after consultation with OceanLife.
  5. OceanLife may cancel the sailing trips under certain circumstances (illness of the instructor, breakdown of the ship etc.). This will be done as early as possible. In this case, customers will be refunded the fees that have already been transferred to the account. The refund does not include any other expenses (such as flights, travel, equipment etc.) that have already been paid by the customer. The upper limit of the refund amount corresponds to the cost of participation in the course, sailing trip or event.

On-board cash box

  1. The crew members pay into the on-board cash box in equal shares. The on-board cash box can be managed physically. OceanLife recommends that all participants install the cost-sharing apps “Split” or “Splitwise”. With these apps, the on-board cash can be managed virtually, is very transparent and simplifies billing enormously.
  2. The skipper does not pay into the on-board cash box.
  3. All (!) shared costs for the trip will be covered by the on-board cash box. This includes ship diesel, mooring fees, food on board (excluding spirits), replacement of lost equipment, minor repairs (unless covered by insurance), permits for national parks, etc.

Terms of payment and payment options

  1. Upon booking, 50 % of the price confirmed by OceanLife is due.
  2. If the amount is not transferred within 14 days of the confirmation, the reservation can be withdrawn by OceanLife.
  3. The final payment is due no later than 6 weeks before the start of the event.
  4. You will receive both an online invoice from OceanLife, where you can select the method of payment, and an invoice in PDF form.
  5. Payments are made by standard bank transfer or credit card.
